Green mapping workshops are an opportunity for people to network and share information about the land and environment which are important to them where they live - from food security, historical and cultural uses, to green spaces.

The general themes of the Cowichan Valley Green Mapping Project are the interconnections between Land – People - Food

Land

Ecologically significant areas, such as wildlife habitat, wildlife corridors, trails and trail access points, landforms, geological features, parks, protected areas, trails, viewscapes, conservation projects, remediation sites, salmon spawning sites, Garry Oak Meadows, waterfront parks, wetlands, toxic sites

Food

Community gardens, local markets, eco-agricultural sites/farms, emergency food resources, organic food suppliers and processors

People

Green businesses, Green transportation, First Nations place names, cultural sites (with permission), heritage sites and tours, green or eco schools
