Cowichan Estuary Nature Centre Burger & Beer Night a Great SuccessJuly 21st, 2011 Cowichan Bay, B.C. – The Cowichan Land Trust’s Burger & Beer Night July 17th at the Cowichan Bay Marine Pub was a great success, raising over $4600 for the Cowichan Estuary Nature Centre!! Those who came out to support the fundraiser event enjoyed a great meal, good company, and wonderful entertainment by folk artist and singer songwriter Cara McCandless. Official Opening – April 21st, 1pm-5pm The Nature Centre will officially open on April 21st – official ribbon cutting at 3pm. We’ll open up at 1pm so you can have a look around and enjoy some music and nibbles, and, of course, the very best of mother nature! If you are interested in volunteering check out our new Cowichan Estuary Nature Centre program website. Current ProjectsWe are currently working on two stewardship projects, the Friends of Cowichan Creeks project and the Quamichan Watershed project. We are also operating the Cowichan Estuary Nature Centre and continue to fundraise for the Sansum Narrows Regional Park aquisition project. This report is a summary of a workshop and literature review undertaken by the Cowichan Community Land Trust Society (CCLT) on the ecological health of the Cowichan Estuary. The CCLT is a non-profit organization whose purposes are to conserve, protect and enhance the quality of the human and natural environment in the Cowichan Valley.
